All right. Here we go. See?

Now wasn’t that easy? All it takes
is some confidence and a willingness
to get started. And even though
I’m not there, I’ll guide you
through this. I want to thank
my very special assistant, my daughter Zuri, for helping me
with today’s vlog like always. And remember, the road
ahead might look rough, but you can make the journey
with a little bit of work and a whole lot of love. Muah. Are you ready to do this? All right.
Here we go. First you want to moisturize
these beautiful thick curls with a leave-in conditioner, which
will also help detangle the kinks. Now, part all your hair
into sections and clip it away. You’re doing an amazing job. Yay!
You did it! That was so much fun. I knew you could do it. ♪ Right, right ♪

  1. One can Express a lot even during silence…excluding the tablet tutorial. But, without video tutorials today, some of us would be dependent upon others for help. Anyway, beautiful video

  2. When I was young all I wanted was naturally straight hair like the kinda the brush just glided through. I hated my hair and all its texture—my mom wasn’t the biggest expert in natural hair and because I’m mixed and my hair texture is drastically different from hers. It wasn’t till all the natural hair Youtubers came around to actually teach me do control my hair that I began to love my hair. To see a little girl already so confident in her hair and self is amazing. I’m so happy that little girls can now see this type of content and understand that their hair is beautiful no matter which style that choose to wear it. That is a confidence you can’t put a price on.

  3. Me through the whole film
    Omg her mom’s the YouTuber!
    Omg her mom’s dead! D:
    Omg her mom’s not dead!
    Omg she has cancer D:

  4. This is so beautiful! My mom wasn't in the picture, but this reminds me of my dad doing my hair when I was a little girl. He had one go-to style, but it worked out!

  5. Thank you so much Sony Animation for uploading it. I didn’t get a chance to see it in theaters. Sorry about that.

  6. This made me so teary eyed. SOOOOO snif MUCH sinf snif Emotion. The understanding of the importance of our hair and the love shown.

  7. This was a beautiful story. I think all fathers should know how to do their daughter's hair. Hopefully this will inspire those who are willing to step up to the challenge!!!

  8. OMG HER MOMMY HAD CANCER!?? WHAAAAAASAASAAAAAAEGDGtxcytotuoiggcicrkycutxutxuktcotzutvtucyg THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!

  9. I love the portrayal of a positive, engaging black father- they definitely exist! My dad used to do our hair… he was terrible at it, but he tried and we all still laugh about it. Lol ?

  10. Man, this short is VERY GOOD! Can you make more of those, please?

  11. i cried omfg you made me think the mom was dead for the longest time UGH <3 so glad everyone what there in the end! Really amazing short!!!

  12. Damn whos cutting these onions????

But in all seriousness this is honestly one of Sonys best works. It really shows how they can take the simplest of issues and turn into a beautiful masterpiece???

  13. Thank you! I'm sick of all the black tragedy in films. I needed this. We all needed this. Bless you Matthew and the entire Hair Love team!

  14. I love this way to much X"""D omg this is way to relatable and the animation is adorable and hilarious great work ????

  15. I loved every minute of this short <3 The part where the dad was fighting the hair was extremely relatable lmao.

Also, this short gets bonus points from me for not going the dead mom route.

  16. I heard a real life horror story of a white family adopting a little black girl and never taking care of her hair the way it needed. Black hair feeds on care, love and cocoa butter ?

  17. Wow. ? This reminds me of Bao. Strongly tied to certain cultures while still portraying universal themes we can all understand. Beautiful. As a black woman, I felt this viscerally and it warmed my heart.

  18. Omg !!! That was absolutely beautiful !! I cried !! So moving ! Inspired me to try more hairstyles on my daughter now lol !

  19. This was such an amazing video. It made me cry and laugh all at the same time. I loved it. Very inspirational . Thank you

  20. ??????❤️❤️❤️ I love this. I can really relate because I used to struggle with my hair as well when I was younger. But as I got older I started gaining more confidence in wearing my hair out and doing? I definitely appreciate this short film

  21. I legit cried during this video! It was so beautiful and it told such an inspiring story. To be proud of your hair if you have a lot of it or none?❤️

  22. This was beautiful. I am crying of happiness right now. I love that this made me feel included. Thank you for this video. Black people should be painted in a positive light not all this negativity is from both sides.

  23. I have a…love hate relationship with sony animation. It's obvious how much damn talent that their crew has being wasted on shit like the emoji movie.
